A perfect start

The Twins set a new high-water mark with Sunday's win over Oakland, as they are now six games over .500, at 49-43.
They are 5.5 games back of the wildcard, and 6 games back of 1st-place Detroit.

Could there possibly have been a better way to kick off the second half? The Twins are an emotional team, prone to momentum swings in either direction. That makes this 4-0 start more significant than it might be on other teams.
They often play better than they should because they don't know any better, they just needed something to get them in that mindset, and this could be it.

The calls for a firesale will hopefully be quieted at least for awhile, because the Twins are clearly in the wild card race.
Johan Santana is going to win the Cy Young again, and Boof Bonser and Scott Baker have put together a decent run lately.

The upcoming series against Detroit is pretty big. If they lose 2 of 3 it's not the end of the world, but if they win 2 or 3, they're going to be in serious business.

And WHEN the Twins get swept, you'll have to pause to wipe the poop off your shoes.

Another solid series by Jason Tyner. And, how about the nice route Lew Ford took on the final out of Saturday night's game. It's a good thing Tori decided to back up what should have been a routine fly ball out.

Designate Lew Ford for assignment. I don't care where he goes, just get him the hell out of a Twins uniform. He would have missed that fly ball the other night by 40 yards.

Solari, are you gearing up for the Wolverines next great 2nd place finish in the big 10? GO BUCKEYES!!!!!!!

I'll take the Jacks women over any Big 10 team. We're going to have a great squad this year. Watch out!!!!
Also, Lew Ford is a scrappy player. I like him.

Please. Lew Ford doesn't belong in the same ballpark with players like Mauer, Morneau, Hunter, and Tyner.

Who cares about SDSU or USD, or OSU or U-M for that matter. The Spartans should win every Big Ten title this year and sweep their way to the Sears Cup. Easily. It will be similar to the Roadrunners' domination of the Monarchs and the rest of the state.

Yeah, I'm sure the 17 people who still read the Argus sports section are psyched to get a full story on the girls basketball teams report card.

And by U-M he means Michigan folks, not the Goldies.

What is the Sears Cup?

Is that like what they call the bras they sell to Grandmas?

Anybody see the court document on the Gopher player charged with rape?
Wow! (It's on startribune.com)

Let's just say this guy apparently idolizes Peter North.

Geez.
I definitely thought if anyone would ever drop a Peter North ref onto this blog it would be me.
Nicely done.
First big test for the new coach. Dump this stupid thug.
